Dr. Nadia Diaz

Dr. Diaz has been a licensed psychologist since 2003. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh and at Mercyhurst College. She earned her Master’s Degree in Psychology at The New School for Social Research, in NYC in 1998 and obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology also at The New School, in 2002. In 2003, she received her New York State License as a Clinical Psychologist.

She completed a clinical psychology internship at Gouverneur Hospital, with rotations at Bellevue Hospital and Housing Works Clinic in NY. Her clinical externships included placements at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA, Interfaith Medical Center, NY, Beth Israel Medical Center, NY, and South Beach Psychiatric Center, NY.

Throughout her career, she has worked at several institutions, including the Metropolitan Center for Mental Health, NY; Hospital Ramos Mejía in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY; the International Center for Disabilities, NY; Jamaica Hospital, NY; Advanced Center for Psychotherapy, NY; and Comprehensive Counseling Center, NY. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, she facilitated psychotherapy groups for survivors of trauma and family members of the “disappeared.”

She has completed specialized training in PTSD and trauma treatment, including EMDR, CBT, IFS, EFT, and somatic-based interventions, led by recognized psychological trauma specialists such as Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk, Dr. Janina Fisher, Deany Laliotis, and NYCEFT, among others.

Since 2006, she has maintained a private practice in New York City, where she conducts psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and provides treatment to survivors of various forms of trauma, including complex trauma, domestic violence, political and religious persecution, torture, and sexual assault. She is a native Spanish speaker.
