BARIATRIC SURGERY PSYCHOLOGICAL CLEARANCE

A psychological evaluation for bariatric surgery assesses a patient's mental and emotional readiness for the procedure and the significant lifestyle changes that follow. It helps identify potential psychological challenges, ensure a realistic understanding of the surgery, determine appropriateness for bariatric surgery, including post surgery recommendations, and the level of support the patient may need in order to optimize success with the surgery. The evaluation includes a clinical interview, psychological testing and the psychological report. Dr. Díaz has been collaborating with leading bariatric surgery departments throughout New York State, providing psychological evaluations and clearance for patients preparing to undergo bariatric surgery.
